Digital X-Ray

Digital X-Ray
An x-ray is the oldest and most commonly used form of medical testing. It is a painless and quick test for the patient to endure. An x-ray involves exposing the part of the body that is being examined to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body.

X -ray is also used to diagnose various conditions of the lungs including pneumonia, tumors and changes of heart failure. It also is used to diagnose fractures and other abnormalities of bones, joint conditions, and causes of abdominal pain.

Hastings Imaging Center has x-ray using digital technology, providing the highest resolution and fast analysis of results. A digital image has certain advantages over conventional film x-ray, including the ability for the technologist to immediately tell if the image is acceptable. The images are then permanently electronically stored. They can then be easily retrieved and printed to a CD or viewed on a computer workstation by our radiologists. Additionally, the radiologist can electronically manipulate the image for improved detail and accuracy.

No preparation is required for general X-ray exams.
